THE SCOTTISH ATHLETICS ARCHIVE 1959 - 1985

The Scottish Athletics Archive is a major work in progress by SATS documenting all athletes who have appeared in the Scottish senior rankings since the first Scottish Athletics annual was published in 1960. The first part of this work covers the years 1959 to 1985 and provides details of over 4,000 athletes and 20,000 performances.

The core part of the work is the athlete records. These records (where complete) include each athlete's name, date of birth, clubs, year by year ranking records, and championship record. It is supported by further information with the top 10 rankings by event for each year, the record of Scottish champions in the period, and further information which it is hoped will be added in time.

There is a comprehensive guide to the information included in the athletes records but there is still much information to be added, from missing forenames, dates of birth, family relationships, and the identification of athletes who may be from other countries.

If anyone can provide corrections and/or additional information, no matter how minor, and photographs for inclusion, all such items will be gratefully received. Please email scotstats@aol.com. Updates will be added monthly.

The next stage of this project is to bring the information up to date from 1986 to the present time and work on this has already started.
